The Disabled Ramblers is a small charity working across England and Wales to help make the countryside more accessible to people with limited mobility – which benefits everyone. We campaign to raise awareness of the needs of people with limited mobility and organise a national programme of rambles for people who use mobility scooters.

Story

Our mum, Betty Peacock, passed away on the 13th September 2021.  She would have been 93 on the 30th June 2022.

We will be having a party to celebrate her wonderful life on the 2nd July, 2022 from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

Betty loved the countryside but was unable to access most of it due to her disability.  It was something that had frustrated her for a long time.

Fortunately I discovered the Disabled Ramblers in her latter years and we managed to go on some amazing rambles. She would feel safe and secure on the heavy duty machines going cross country and would spend the whole day with a grin from ear to ear.

She would say after the ramble, 'fancy me being able to go out into the country like that'.  She made some wonderful friendships and we made many happy memories, sharing stories and sandwiches with such a friendly, inclusive group of people.

We hope you will not only contribute to her charity but also try them out for yourself.  Paula Brunt will be doing a talk  at Betty's Tribute Party so you can find out more and you will even have a chance to have a go.

There are more rambles opening up in Wiltshire so we hope you will join us and contribute to this wonderful charity which gave our mum a lot of happiness at the end of her life.
