Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I worked for 20 years at the Edinburgh Evening News as did two of my sisters. I have secondary progressive MS but this has never stopped me. Last year, however, I became ill at home and was in and out of hospital. I contracted multiple infections then COVID. I ended up in a coma for several weeks and my family were told I would make it. I surprisingly woke up but I had lost everything including my home and ability to walk. When I first arrived at Drummond Grange care home I needed hoists to move and couldn't even stand. I kept a smile on my face and with the help of Gerard (physio) and the staff at Drummond Grange I am now able to walk with a walker which is amazing. Everyone has been genuinely concerned for me and very kind. One such person has been Susanne. Susanne has been there for me and a wonderful friend at Drummond Grange. Susanne has MND and is desperate to return home to her husband and 4 year old daughter who is a character (quite like myself). I am choosing to do this walk for her as there will be a lot of things she will need that would benefit her to get home. I will be virtually walking the 5 mile distance from Drummond Grange over the next few weeks. This will be a big challenge for me as I am still regaining my strength but everyone is rooting for me.
