In memory of Joyce Patterson (Tearfund)

We are raising money for Tearfund in memory of a wonderful wife, Mum, Granny and friend, Joyce Patterson. Those who knew Joyce, will know that she was a kind and selfless person, always putting the needs of others before her own.
We are so grateful for all the lovely messages from friends and members of the community telling us of thoughtful ways in which Joyce welcomed and supported them. It was in her nature to help those in need and for this reason she wanted donations to be made to Tearfund, a Christian charity that helps those living in poverty across the world.
Donations made before 30 April 2021 will be doubled thanks to an incredibly generous group of Tearfund supporters that have agreed to match all donations up to a total of £1.5 million as part of their Lent Appeal.
Read more about the work of Tearfund below:
Tearfund is a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. We tackle poverty and injustice through sustainable development, by responding to disasters and challenging injustice. We believe an end to extreme poverty is possible.
Thousands of people needlessly suffer and die every day because of poverty. But that’s not God’s plan for the world. And God is calling you – all of us – to reach out to people in greatest need. We partner with local churches and organisations who have a crucial role to play in the places worst affected by poverty.
For people like Abeer* and her children, giving things up hasn't been a choice. Conflict forced them to flee their home in fear. Now Abeer and her small children live in a temporary camp in Iraq where its hard to get the basic essentials they need to survive. Tens of millions of people around the world have lost their homes, livelihoods and hope in similar ways to Abeer. This Lent, will you help to relieve suffering and poverty where it's most needed? Until 30 April, my fundraising will be doubled, thanks to an incredibly generous group of supporters (up to a collective total of £1 million!) You can help start to restore a sense of home for people who have lost everything. £273 doubled could provide enough clothing for 20 children like Abeer's that fit them and protects them from the extremes of heat in summer and cold in winter. *Name changed for protection
We are raising money for both Tearfund and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of Joyce so if you would like to donate to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation please go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/joyce-patterson-rclcfoundation
