I have a cousin, only a year older than me, who has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.  MND affects the nerves known as motor neurones. These nerves are found in the brain and spinal cord and they help tell your muscles what to do.  It's a debilitating disease for which there is no cure, though its progress can now be slowed.
