Employees from Bournemouth, London and Scotland will be taking part in this year's Round the Island Race and Round the Island Cycle Challenge on Saturday, 21 June 2014.
The J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is one of the world's largest yacht races and attracts approx 1,700 yachts. The race is a 50 mile circuit around the Isle of Wight. This year there will be 100+ J.P. Morgan sailors involved.
The Round the Island Cycle Challenge is a 62 mile on-road cycle which takes place at the same time as the yacht race. There will be approx 100 cyclists taking on the enormous challenge of the Isle of Wight cycle route, which makes hard work for the toughest cyclists!
In 2014, we are piloting a running event as part of the Island Challenge. This will be a small group of runners looking to run 8-10 miles on the Island.
This is the eighth year we have taken part in the Round the Island. It is not only a great day both on and off the water, it is also a great opportunity to help raise money and make a difference to the lives of young people recovering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses. To date, with your help, we have raised over £130,000 for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, a fantastic total. Last year was our record year for fund-raising and we’d like to this year we'd like to break the record again!
