Virgin London Marathon 2014 · 13 April 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I recently attended a charity fundraising event at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, where I gained my first insight into the devastating skin disorder that is Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
EB is a very rare condition that affects approximately 1 in 17,000 children born in the UK. The disorder results in fragility of the skin and, in some cases, other internal membranes and organs. Blisters, open wounds and sores form as a result of the slightest touch, rub or trauma. Certain types of EB can be fatal in infancy and others are severely life-limiting.
For further information on EB please visit http://www.debra.org.uk/article-what-is-eb.html.
Any support you can give will go towards scientific research to help find a cure for this disorder, as well as helping towards caring for existing EB sufferers.
Whilst the Marathon is a mammoth personal challenge for me, the discomfort I will experience is nothing in comparison to what EB sufferers have to go through on a daily basis.
Please help support in any way you can, and together we will raise awareness and funds for this worthwhile charity.
Many Thanks
James
