JSA Challenge · 8 April 2013 to 14 April 2013 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Aspire Bristol and The Matthew Tree Project are working together to raise much needed funds to enable the vital work both organisations do to continue.
We are challenging you to see if you can live for one week on the job seeker's allowance of £71 and to donate what money you would have otherwise spent to these two great projects.
All monies raised will be split 50/50 between both organisations.
So please dig deep and donate now and make a real difference to the most disadvantaged in society.
How it works:
At the start of the week take out £71 in cash, (or £111 if you are a couple), and that has to cover ALL your expenses for the next seven days. So that might mean you do not get to top-up your mobile phone, you make sandwiches at home rather than buying them from a cafe, and it will almost certainly mean you don't get to go out on a Friday or Saturday night!
However, it is only one week - and it WILL give you an insight into what nearly 3 million unemployed people have to go through each week.
There are a few rules! PLEASE do not go into debt to do this. Pay your rent or mortgage as usual. There is no need to cancel direct debits or standing orders. So, in many ways, you will still live in greater comfort then those on JSA do. But can you make that £71 stretch to cover all your other living costs that week?
Thank you.
