Story
This September will mark 20 years since my uncle, John Slevin, died. He was 33.
In 1993, at the age of 28, John was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Over the next five years his health deteriorated until he lost the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe.
I am now the same age John was when he was diagnosed, and I am lucky, my body can do incredible things and I have never even bothered to try and see just how much. Until now...
Since January I have been training to run my first half marathon and am hoping to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Motor Neurone Disease is relatively rare, but still affects around 5,000 people in the UK at any time.
MNDA is the only national charity in the UK focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning.
Please give what you can to help support the charity in taking care of patients and the families watching their loved ones suffer.
