For the last 5 years, every January, I have sat in the comfort of my office/home, drinking tea and avidly 'dot watching' the participants of the Montane Spine Challenger and Spine Race, following their progress from Edale in the Peak District all the way to Kirk Yetholm in Northumberland. This year I'm going to be one of those dots!
At 8 am on Jan 11th I will cross the start line in Edale and begin a journey of 108 miles on foot ending in Hawes sometime on Monday 13th January.
The challenge is a huge one for me, I will be pushing myself harder both physically and mentally than ever before, but what better incentive to keep moving forward than knowing I am raising money for a truly deserving charity.
Martin House Hospice have provided amazing support to our best friends Duncan, Kress and their beautiful daughter Amaia after Amaia was diagnosed with a life-limiting genetic condition shortly before her first birthday. I'm more than delighted to say that Amaia turned 6 in September, is full of life, enjoying school, swimming and fairground rides (see photo below!) but Martin House continue to provide invaluable support to them and other families across Yorkshire.
