Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising to make breakthroughs happen.

I had breast cancer back in 2022 and am in remission for the third year. There are many others, all around the globe in the same position as me.

This is possible due to the many years of research that have gone into finding treatments and cure for this disease. Raising funding for research and discoveries is vital to help bring about a world where everybody can live longer, better lives free from the fear of cancer.

I am once again taking part in Relay for Life as part of Team Adios to Cancer. We will be walking for 24 hours as part of the relay, whilst honouring everyone affected by cancer and celebrating the progress that has been made in saving and improving lives.

How does the money you raise power progress?

- £65 could buy special restriction enzymes. These act like molecular scissors to cut long strands of DNA, allowing scientists to find out more about the genes that can cause cancer.

- £220 could fund a team of nine cancer nurses for one hour. The Cancer Research nurse helpline offers confidential support and guidance to people affected by cancer.
