JudoFITuk Triple One Triple Zero Challenge

Andrew Murray is raising money for Encephalitis International

JudoFITuk Triple One Triple Zero Challenge · 1 February 2021

Encephalitis International is the only non-profit of any size anywhere in the world providing direct support and information to people affected by encephalitis (brain inflammation), raising awareness, and furthering our understanding of the condition through research.

Story

Holly was 16 years old when she was admitted to hospital in August 2020 with NMDA receptor encephalitis, a swelling of the brain caused by the immune system attacking it. Holly endured a lumber punch to confirm the condition and she has required aggressive immuno therapy treatment with 11 weeks of sedated ventilation due to ongoing seizures. She is soon to be moved to the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit , where she will remain for up to 6 months. The good news is Holly is on the mend although full recovery could take around 2 years. Holly turned 17 whilst in hospital and her parents have not been able to be by her bedside as much due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Encephalitis Society support families in many different ways including the effects on the individual and the family. They fund research and raise awareness about this little known condition but thankfully its becoming more diagnosable. They are dedicated to raising awareness and research of this terrible disease and supporting those unfortunate enough to be affected by it.

The JudoFITuk group are going to attempt to run 1,000 miles, do 10,000 press ups and 100,000 sit ups (111,000) between them all in the 28 days of February...hence Triple One Triple Zero Challenge.

Participants Andrew, Jo, James, Ben, Mark, Carolyn, Matt, Alex, Evie, Justyn, Liezl, Ben, Judy, Simon, Jo, James, Michelle, Gabriel, Ethan, Matt, Olivia, Rory, Karen and Louisa are keen to get going.
