Story
Dear All,
A little less than a year ago a precious angel called Jacob Jack Serge Webb lost his battle, aged two, against a degenerative neurological illness called GM1 gangliosidosis. He was the son of Delphine and Michael. Since she arrived in London twenty years ago, Delphine has been like a member of our family. When Jacob was born, he too was treasured by all of us. It was beyond our imagining when at fifteen months old he was diagnosed with this terrible illness.
During the heartbreaking months following Jacob's diagnosis and decline, Helen & Douglas House childrens' hospice provided indispensable support to Delphine and Michael. For people like us who had never visited a hospice it was a revelation and it is difficult to overstate the importance of the role they played in providing a safe environment to make the seemingly impossible transition between keeping Jacob comfortably alive and helping him to die peacefully.
In helping to raise money for this hospice which is so close to our hearts, I am running this very muddy 5K obstacle course (a photo to be uploaded in due course). Any contribution, however small, would be appreciated.
With love,
Judy x
