After the huge disappointment I faced in 2013 of dropping out at 17 miles in the London Marathon I vowed to retire .. and retire I did ! Until I met a little girl ... her sister is in the twins class at school ! Now this little girl , Isabelle. is lovely .. a normal little girl with a twinkle in her eye ... no one would know any different ! Yet she has a rare disorder called the prettiest name for such a huge thing Diamond Blackfan Anaemia ..
Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA) is a rare blood condition where the bone marrow fails to produce red blood cells. These red blood cells are necessary for life since they carry oxygen around the body. Patients are usually diagnosed before the age of two and require treatment to compensate for their lack of red cell production. ( This treatment for Isabelle is MONTHLY blood transfusions ... )
That's pretty huge huh ?? When her Mum told me all about it I vowed silently then to do something for Isabelle & all the others out there living with DBA ! So as Isabelle approaches her 2nd birthday I am no longer silent , and I am no longer in retirement ... I'm here to do what I do ! Raise money and help make a difference .. no matter how small !!
Please help if you can ... !! And yes .. I'm putting the heels away in storage as I type !!!
Love you guys ... as ever xxx You ROCK !!!
