Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During 2023 I am undertaking a number of  challenges to raise as much money as possible for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research - the charity set up in memory of the England World Cup winning captain who sadly died of Bowel Cancer in 1993.

UPDATE - 26TH APRIL 2023

On April 23rd 2023 I completed my 3rd London Marathon, finishing in a time of 3hrs 58mins. This was my first ever sub 4hr marathon beating my previous best time by 17 mins!!

UPDATE - 30TH JUNE 2023

100 Mile Challenge Update (Mon 26th June).

I'm happy to say that I successfully completed the 100 miles of my challenge but, due to the high temperatures & after experiencing sun stroke & heat exhaustion, I took the decision to manage the pace of the challenge sensibly & not push to finish within the original 24hr timeframe.

As a result I arrived back at Burton Albion to finish the full 100 miles at 6pm on Sunday 25th June having been on the move for 30 hours.

Many of you know that I have raised money for the Bobby Moore Fund in the past I am now undertaking these challenges for this fantastic charity because it has a personal connection for my family - my Mum has recently undergone treatment for bowel cancer at Derby & Burton Hospitals after being diagnosed back in July 2021.

Whilst it has been an incredibly long and really tough couple of years for Mum including radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment (& the need for a stoma bag for a period of time), all of which have really affected her physically, she has battled through and is now cancer free!!! Therefore we are hopeful that both my Mum and Dad can start to look forward again and that 2023 will be a much happier and healthier year.

All of this has made me and my family even more grateful for the contribution that the Bobby Moore Fund, and the wider Cancer Research UK charity, makes towards funding research into helping hospitals such as Derby & Burton treat cancer patients across the country.

I am incredibly thankful to still have my Mum, for my Dad to still have his wife and for my children to still have their Granny. If you could find it in your hearts to help me raise money during these difficult times I would be so, so grateful.

Thank you.
