Hello all
Firstly, BIG thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may already know, on Saturday 25th June, I will be taking part in the Safaricom Half Marathon in Kenya.
This unique marathon is rated as one of the toughest in the world, run on undulating dirt roads, over a course around the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The protected 55,000 acre wildlife sanctuary is home to 65 Black Rhino, over 240 elephant and a vast assortment of other game including leopard, zebra, giraffe and buffalo as well as 19 lions! Luckily, the race is watched over by an experienced team of armed rangers, a helicopter and spotter plane just in case there are any predators out there looking for some easy to catch breakfast!
The combination of the heat, altitude, hills and the prospect of being pursued by hungry wildlife really will make this a true challenge! :-)
So, please dig deep and help me achieve my target of £1000 for the
Tusk Trust. Tusk is an incredible charity,
designed not only to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but to help alleviate poverty and encourage sustainable development and education amongst many poor rural communities who live alongside wildlife. Conservation of wildlife remains a key objective with substantial funding being applied towards the protection of many threatened species such as elephant, rhino, cheetah, chimpanzee, mountain and lowland gorillas, African wild dog, giant sable and even marine species like turtles. Since its formation in 1990, Tusk has raised over £12 million for a wide range of projects across Africa. I also have the opportunity to go along and see some of Tusk’s current field projects, including visiting a wildlife conservancy and a local school that are currently benefiting from Tusk’s funding. To witness firsthand how your donations can have such a dramatic and positive impact on the wildlife and the local people's lives within the community. Please dig deep as every little helps!
Thanks again.
