At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Well I must be completely INSANE to do this walk again but here I am 3 years later (having forgotton the pain) asking for your support again :)

There are currently around 750,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to 1 million by 2025.  Each year 100,000 people in the UK develop this and 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia.  Dementia is a terrible disease that not only destroys the lives of the sufferer but is immensely distressing for their families and friends who watch helplessly as their loved ones deteriorate and drift away.  The Alzheimer's Society  is the leading support and research charity in the UK committed to fighting this disease and to provide a world where the rights of those who suffer from this are recognised and that both they and those who care for them have their needs FULLY met.  They provide a network of over 2,000 services, helping over 30,000 people EVERY week including home and day support.  They fund research into cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia which is desperately underfunded in the UK and campaign tirelessly for a better quality of life for sufferers.  Some of the ways that your donation will contribute to helping their cause are:-

£25.00 will enable two callers to reach the Alzheimer's Society National Dementia Helpline and get the support and advice they need.

£50.00 could pay for a day of respite care and give a carer a much needed break.

£100.00 could pay for a day's work by a research assistant that could one day lead to a cure.

Whatever amount you can afford to donate however small will be so gratefully received (Not only by them but me too for making my suffering worth while). Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

With extremely grateful thanks.
