When I signed up to do this for charity, I told my mother-in-law, Colleen (who is battling stage IV breast cancer)  that I wanted to do this in her honor.  When I asked her what charity she wanted me to raise money for, I thought she would choose something for breast cancer research.  However, being the loving and incredible grandmother she is, she told me

 “I appreciate you thinking of me and this hideous disease of breast cancer… But I’d like you to run for Type 1 diabetes research. I’d like my grandchildren to have the chance to be free of that hideous disease and burden in their lives.”
