Researchers at the University of Sheffield are leading the way in developing personalised treatments for Parkinson's Disease.

Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page in support of Parkinson's Disease research at the University of Sheffield.

My brother has been living with Parkinson's for 10 years and this is one small thing I can do to help. Also my daughter works at SITraN, the University of Sheffield department that is at the forefront of research to help find a cure, so I hear directly about the brilliant work they do there.

The money raised by this challenge will support a clinical trial testing a drug normally used in the treatment of liver disease, which has the potential to repair damaged cells in Parkinson’s patients.

I've never been particularly fit or good at running so this Couch to 5K is going to be quite a challenge for me. No pain, no gain has always been an alien concept for me. I'm a bit worried about what it will do to my creaky knees and hips! But hey, I'm fortunate not to be coping with the symptoms of Parkinson's, a truly horrible disease.

I'm aiming to follow the classic Couch to 5K 9 week plan. Wish me luck, and any donations are much appreciated.
