We have 2 beautiful little girls Lily-Rose is aged 5 and Amber is aged 2 .

Amber was born at home, which was definitely not planned but it seemed she couldn’t wait.

We had absolutely no idea that Amber had Down syndrome until we got to the hospital and the doctor gave us of the diagnosis, it was a massive shock and a lot to take in. I felt lost, I had no idea what this diagnosis meant for our beautiful daughter and our family.

Having a child with Down Syndrome makes you see the world through different eyes. I am not going to lie the last 2 years have been the hardest of my life but also the most beautiful years, Ambers determination and tenacity is a lesson to us all. She takes everything in her stride, she faces every challenge head on and never gives up, she is fiercely independent and very reluctant to accept help from anyone . Life with Amber is a beautiful new journey, we didn’t expected to take, but not one that we would change. Our life is certainly brighter since Amber came in to it.

I am no runner and have absolutely no idea how long it will take me to complete the GNR but I will have a picture of Ambers beautiful smile in my mind and heart every step of those 13 miles. If she can learn to both walk and crawl after being told she never would then I can get do this.
