Story
The Hedgehog Half Marathon takes place on Sunday October 4th from 8:30 onwards. It is a small event in rural North Lincolnshire, hosted by the brilliant Curly's Athletes, in accordance with Covid-19 regulations. The race begins in Normanby Park and runs through the villages of Burton, Thealby, Coleby, West Halton, Alkborough and Normanby. There are 500 participants setting off in waves therefore social-distancing will be adhered to. I ran Curly's Normanby 10k in September and felt it was safe and superbly organised. Spectators are discouraged from gathering at the start and finish line in the grounds of the park, but most welcome on the course.
This will be my 13th half marathon and I haven't run that distance since August 2019! Last year I ran my slowest and fastest: 1hr56m Boston UK in April, then 2hr19m Newark in August. So for my predicted time I've gone for halfway between the two: 2hr 7m 30s. But I haven't a clue what I really will do..
Also running will be cousin Shaun who first introduced me to parkrun in 2015 and we also sing together in Brigg Singers.
Andrew's Hedgehog Hospital is a small, local charity which cares for sick and young hogs before releasing them back into the wild. Our humble British hedgehog is in danger of extinction and is now officially an endangered species.
