Story
Thank you for taking time out to visit my page.
If you have experienced caring for or loving someone who is journeying towards that final and very alien frontier known as Alzheimer's, you'll know first hand how heartbreaking and lonely this can be for all involved. Watching your loved one time travel deep into their past where they feel safe and loved only to hurtle forward again into a world where nothing makes sense and everyone you remember is lost to you, strangers call you Mum or Dad and all kinds of people and creatures pour into your home through the box in the corner of the living room. Nothing looks, feels, or tastes the same, you can't remember how to put on your clothes or work pretty much anything in your home anymore, but you know you should - it's all stored away somewhere just out of reach.
Does this sound like somewhere you would want to visit, let alone live? No two Alzheimer's sufferers make the same journey, they truly will go where no man (or woman) has gone before. If like me you believe no one should have to make this journey alone, please, please find it in your heart and your purse/wallet to donate to this cause, help find a lifeline and keep our loved ones where they belong, in the here and now with families that love them.
As I walk I'll be thinking of two very special people, my Mum Anita, a truly unstoppable force, determined even years into her journey to be self sufficient whether it's good for her or not! And father in law Jim, who has sadly crossed that final frontier, I hope they appreciate that dry sense of humour on the other side!
Dig deep people time is ticking by.......
