Story
I am really excited to be taking part in 'Swim Challenge 22' for Diabetes UK. From 22nd March 2025, I am aiming to swim the equivalent distance of the English Channel (22 miles) over 12 weeks. 1 mile is approximately 64 lengths of my local swimming pool.
I am taking on this challenge to raise awareness and funds for Diabetes UK - a fabulous charity whose vision is, "A world where Diabetes can do no harm".
Two years ago, my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes which was a huge shock and then recently, my husband received exactly the same diagnosis. I am taking on this challenge for them and everyone living with or affected by Diabetes.
I have loved swimming since I was a toddler and thought what a fun way to help! However, 50 odd years on, I am going to need all the luck and encouragement going! 😀
Even though I completed the challenge early (6th May 2025), there is still plenty of time to donate as the final funds can be collected up until 22nd July 2025. If you know of anyone who may be interested in supporting this wonderful charity who help so many people affected by Diabetes in lots of different ways, either by funding research into new therapies, technology, a possible cure in the future, or providing education, support groups, help and advice etc., please share this fundraising page with them.
To donate, simply click on the red donate button and follow the steps.
Thank you to everyone who have already shown their kind generous support. You have really helped towards Diabetes UK's vision of 'A world where Diabetes can cause no harm.
