We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

We decided to take on this challenge as a thank you to Teenage Cancer Trust  after Mike’s daughter, Niamh was diagnosed with cancer.

Here is her story:

“When I was 19, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  My cancer responded well with the chemotherapy.  However, I suffered the tough side effects of having a weakened immune system.

Thankfully, I had the support of Teenage Cancer Trust to help me through the tough few months that were ahead of me.

This disease changed my life completely.  One day I was fine and the next day I was lying in hospital having just found out I had cancer.  However, Amanda, TCT, was absolutely amazing not only with me but also with my family. My parents and brother were given support 24/7 which over the months I have seen as a great benefit to us all. We still are able to access support.

I spent a lot of time in hospital due to my weakened immune system and Amanda was at my bedside even if it was just for me to have a cry or just talk about how I was feeling. She would be there just to give me a change of scene when it was needed, a cup of coffee or just to sit with me as I was getting treatment.

This charity means so much to me as well as to my family and friends. There when I needed them most. They do outstanding work to help support young adults get through one of the toughest things a young person can go through. TCT have such a special place  in my heart as I will never forget the support they gave to me.

My Dad Mike and a very close family friend, Julie are doing this challenge in aid of TCT who got me through the long treatment  months but also for the kind, amazing and caring nurses that work for this charity.

I can never thank them enough.

The news we had been hoping for came when my parents and Julie and Colin were in London to see Coldplay. A virtual meeting with my consultant told us all I was now in remission and the treatment had worked.

It is very fitting this is where they will take on their challenge.”

            GOOD LUCK DAD&JULIE ❤️💙🤍
