Story

I have decided to take up a challenge of a life time and climb Mount Kilimanjaro in November and raise money for charity.

I am raising funds for St Saviours Church Warwick Avenue.

Money raised will go towards essential building work to provide much needed space for local kids who will be able to use the church for community projects therefore supporting the local community.

We will be leaving London on the 5th of November 2010 and after arriving in Tanzania we will set off on the 8th November for the 5 day trek through the highly varied landscape of the mountain. We will be starting in the rainforest area at the base and hopefully finishing just after dawn on the 4th day on the summit above the glaciers and looking down on Africa beneath us!!

The days are spent walking through spectacular landscapes which change every day as you pass through different vegetation zones.

Of course, walking up from around 1800m to 5895m , as you can probably imagine, takes a lot of effort and the night walk to the summit of Kilimanjaro is going to be tough!!!!

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres or 19,341 ft above sea level. It is the highest freestanding mountain as well as the 4th most prominent mountain in the world, rising 5,882 metres or 19,298 ft from the base.

The facilities for children at St Saviours fall significantly below what is needed and a better space is needed for them, this space is also used by other church and community groups and will be of great benefit to them also.

Please sponsor me on my climb up Kilimanjaro and in my satisfaction of knowing that i have raised funds for a good cause.

Any help that you can give large or small would be very much appreciated.....

Thank You.
