Story
In March 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 1 grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. I had surgery, chemotherapy and then more surgery. Throughout this time, Breast Cancer Now were always at the end of a phone if I needed advice or support and their website had a wealth of information that I could refer to.
When my treatment had finished, I wanted to get involved with the charity - firstly, I became a Louder Voice. This gives me opportunities to take part in surveys and studies. Last July, my work team and I held an Afternoon Tea which was a great success. More recently, I have trained to be a Public Health Volunteer for Breast Cancer Now and am able to deliver breast cancer awareness talks to groups of people.
I am holding an Afternoon Tea this year to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now to aid with their support and research. It will be on Saturday 9th August at The Royal Oak Pub in Lydd (thank you Sharon) - this just happens to be my 50th birthday. After my diagnosis, I have always said that my first major milestone was to get to my 50th birthday.
Feel free to come and join me for an Afternoon Tea and my 50th birthday and help raise money for a fantastic charity.
Thank you - Julie x
