Julie's Challenge 2018 · 24 August 2018

The RBL are the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces and their dependents.

Story

25 years ago a group of Airmen from the RAF Regiment walked the 100 miles from Torpoint to Lands Ends Carrying Bergens weighing 40lb (this is roughly the equivalent of two car tires!)

To mark the 25th Anniversary of this challenge one of the original participants - and Bodmin Beasts founder - Roger 'Fez' Pheasant has decided its time to tackle the challenge again - This time in memory of his dearly loved sister Julie - by pulling a barrel of Real Cornish Ale on a specially adapted cart.

Obviously Fez cannot do this alone so is looking for other people to join in the fun - Please message the page if you are interested - whether you chose to pull for 100 meters or 100 miles the distance is up to you!

This time round Fez has chosen to fundraise for two charities very close to him - Cornwall Hospice Care and The Royal British Legion.

Julie's story - In 1999 Julie sadly passed away after a 13 year battle with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and despite a very long and painful battle she never once gave up. Julie was diagnosed with CLL at 27 years and battled strong for the next 13 years. On the 1st October 1999 she turned 40 years old and unfortunately passed away on the 6th December 1999.

"People who are supported by both CHC and the RBL face battles every single day of their lives and do their best never to give up. The pain we may feel over the course of these two days will be nothing in comparison and that is the inspiration that drives me forward." - Fez
