Story
In 2008 my 19 year old sons health took a dramatic deterioration.Luke spent the last 3 weeks of his life at St Barnabas House where the amazing doctors and nurses enabled me to be his ‘mum’ and not his nurse or care for the last few weeks of his life....for that I will be forever grateful to them......Luke finally lost his brave battle on the 20 th August when he passed peacefully in my arms....just me and him ...the way it should have been ...everyone said we were a formidable team .
Fast forward to 2018 and life dealt me another cruel blow when I lost my husband ...suddenly and unexpectedly....St Barnabas House were there yet again to help me pick up the pieces and rebuild my yet again shattered life with their bereavement and counselling services....I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without them .
Undertaking this walk is a challlenge to me....last year I was diagnosed with MS...I needed 2 sticks to walk and confidence was at an all time low.However....with the same determination that my son took on his life, I will not be beaten.Throughout his short life Luke endured all his disabilities and his many surgeries with a smile on his face and strength and determination to carry on ...... a legacy he left me to continue.
