Story

On 7th August 2021 I'm taking part in the The Cure Parkinson's Trust & Positively Parkinson's Swim Challenge across the Solent together with 11 swimmers united in either having Parkinson's or caring or supporting someone who does. (Just in case your geography is sketchy... 😃  the Solent is the sea straight that separates the Isle of Wight from the English mainland, and we will swim over to Ryde, 5km of sea!). I also happen to have Parkinson's, so to me this is a personal cause.

Parkinson's Disease is a progressive neurological condition which involves the loss of dopamine producing cells in the brain, which control movement and make day-to-day activities difficult. Parkinson's is mostly controlled through medication and whilst currently there is no cure, The Cure Parkinson's Trust, a leading Parkinson's medical research charity, is totally committed to slowing, halting and reversing the condition. To complement medication, exercise plays a key part in an individual's management plan which fosters determination and a positive attitude to live the best life they can through being active, content and empowered. Thanks for your support!
