On my birthday in March I decided that, rather than spend money on myself, I would donate to cancer research and work to support people with cancer and their families - in fact, not just to donate but to raise even more money by joining 1500 hundred other people on a 22 mile trek along the beautiful and challenging Jurassic Coast on 30th June.

So - that was yesterday - and what a fantastic day it was. We walked with such wonderful people, so many walking in memory of loved ones, recovering from cancer themselves or just inspired to raise money for MacMillan. It was a truly humbling experience. The walk was incredibly gruelling - the heat was intense and the hills punishing. We climbed 4500 feet during the event, with around half of it in several very steep climbs at around the 13-15 mile mark. But at every step of the way people gave encouragement and looked after one another - and the celebration at the end was fantastic.
