Story

I'm proud to work for an organisation (BGL Group) that takes its  Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and I really wanted to embark on a challenge of my own.

My challenge is inspired by the lyrics of a very well known song by The Proclaimers called "I'm Gonna Be" as I intend to walk 500 miles over the next 3 months - that works out to be about 5.5 miles a day.

Given the current situation, most of the walking will be done on my treadmill but if the opportunity arises in future to get outside for a walk then I'll certainly take it.

I'm starting on Saturday 2nd May and aim to finish no later than Friday 31st July.

The Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice is a local charity partner of BGL:

Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare teams are always there for local people who are dying. They are providing incredible emotional support as well as specialist medical care to people who are finding themselves in unimaginably difficult circumstances. We are all facing something we have never faced before which is why Sue Ryder has launched an appeal to make sure that they are still here. I am asking you to give whatever you can afford at this difficult time. Every pound you give could make the difference to whether they can be there or not. It is that simple.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
