Story
Around Autumn last year I recieved a text from my GP to tell me that the "fatty lump" that I had asked my GP twice to remove turned out to be a very rare and aggressive cancer. (Leiomyosarcoma).I was told the best way to treat my cancer was to surgically remove it as quickly as possible to avoid any further spread. I have had two subsequent operations which achieved clear margins (no cancer cells)around the original tumour site. I then had my ongoing care moved to a specialist team in London who are currently carrying out 3 monthly chest scans as a precaution. Thanks to the support from my family, friends, work colleagues, employer and the team @sarcoma.org.uk I got through the toughest of times mentally and id like to give something back to those going through their own battles with cancer.
I know times are tough but if you can support me and sarcoma.org.uk on the London Landmarks Half Marathon it would be very much appreciated and if anyone wants to meet me for a beer after the race, your more than welcome!
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to run the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon for Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care. Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:- £1 could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line- £10 could be used to buy microscope slides to look at cells in minute detail- £30 could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope- £150 could fund the support line for a weekThank you for your support.
