I have been asked by one of the Trustee of The Spring Centre in Gloucester if I could help raise funds for completion of play area at The Spring Centre in Gloucester. The creation of the play area will give the children and young people with disabilities an opportunity to play in a safe environment. The Spring Centre provides opportunities for children, young people and their families to access a tailored programme of activities, aimed at improving and enriching quality of life for both the individual child and family unit. Services range from respite care, after school club and holiday activities. They also provide specific help and support for parents and siblings through family sessions and holistic therapies.

Founded in 1985, the Centre started life as a support group for parents at Gloucester Royal Hospital whose babies had been diagnosed with special needs or rofound/multiple disabilities. The service was provided for pre-school children and stayed at the hospital from 1985 until 2000 where, as a result of the changing needs of parents and children, the Trustees took the decision to expand the charities service provision up to the
age of 18 years. As a result, the Centre needed more space and, with more and
more extreme pressures on the NHS, the Centre became an independent charity and
moved out of the hospital grounds to its new and current home, Gardner House,
which we are proud to have bought in 2002. The Centre has undergone a series of
refurbishments and now houses a range of special facilities designed to ensure
that our users receive the best possible services and standards of care.
