helvelyn triathlon · 7 September 2014
I am competing in the helvelyn triathlon, the only triathlon held in England listed in Europe's top ten toughest triathlons. This consists of a 1 mile open water swim in ullswater, followed by a 38 mile bike race including kirkstone pass and the struggle then finishing with a 9 mile run to the summit and back of helvelyn (England's 2nd highest mountain).
I am doing this to raise money towards research for a cure for my daughter, Amy who has rett syndrome. Amy is not brain damaged and it has been proven in the lab to be reversed in mice. Hopefully with enough research this can be replicated in humans.
