Our vision is for a world in which every mitochondrial disease patient has a voice and access to treatment, support to improve their life and, ultimately, a cure.

Story

My name is Kelly Bruce, my friend Olivia Severn & I have set up this page to raise money in memory of Jyoti Bruce - a true inspiration who will be sadly missed.

Jyoti suffered from a condition that has no cure. Since the age of 8 years, Jyoti suffered from seizures, tunnel vision, balance difficulties, motory issues on the left side of her body. She suffered from her disabilities every day but she never stopped smiling or joking around.

My brother Sean made Jyoti's dreams come true on 1st July 2011 when he married her at Glenfield Registry Office. It was an amazing day for the perfect couple, apart from the top tier of the wedding cake falling on the floor! It was an honour to be her bridesmaid or "slave for the day" as she called me... She looked absolutely beautiful and even though she was too excited to sleep the night before, she loved every minute of that day and couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life with her new husband.

However, on the 28th March 2012, and after 4 weeks of consistant seizure activity, Jyoti's brain was unable to cope any longer and she sadly lost her battle against Mitochondrial Disease and passed away at the young age of 23, leaving her loving husband of 9 months, mother, father and older brother.

We have been doing car boot sales in order to raise money for The Lily Foundation to fund research into a cure. We are also daring to do a bungee jump and launch ourselves from a 160ft platform, plummeting rapidly towards the ground with only a piece of rope to save us! This will happen on Sunday 26th August 2012.

In memory of Jyoti, please donate now and help us to find a cure so that other mitochondrial sufferers have hope for a brighter future.
