For nearly the first 2 years of Kai's life he was an inpatient at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. For the duration of that time Mei and I lived at Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Evelina.

Ronald McDonald Houses provide free accommodation for families with children in hospital. But not only that, with the help and generosity of other business and individuals, they provide free food, activities, support and friendship. For us the staff at RMH are part of our family.

Towards the end of that long stay in hospital Kai would go to RMH with Mei and her parents. He learnt to walk in the day room, he learnt to climb up the stairs and he loved to help brush the floor.

On the morning of the 5th April 2022 (two months before his 4th birthday) Kai had a respiratory arrest at home. He was initial taken to Lewisham University Hospital and then transferred to the Evelina once more. He sadly passed away on Friday 8th April. We have never felt so lost and confused, and in our time of need Ronald McDonald House was there for us again. They gave my family a place to stay so they could say their final goodbyes to Kai and they gave Mei and I a home from home when we couldn't face going back to our own.

Your donations will mean that more families can stay just a few minutes away from the hospital where their sick child is being cared for. It will mean a family has one less thing to worry about when their world feels like it is falling down around them.

Our initial fundraising target was £5000. Thanks to your generosity we absolutely smashed that. But we don’t want to stop there. We’d love to raise as much money as we can for this wonderful charity.
