Kai's Ultra Comedy Challenge - Cancer Research UK

Ultra Comedy Liverpool 12th November 2023 · 12 November 2023 ·
Welcome To This Important Cause.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my page and hearing more about what it is we'd like to achieve.
I have been working with a few charities over the last few years and it has been such an eye opening and life changing experience.
With the opportunity of working with Cancer Research UK as a Campaigns Ambassador, I am familiar with what it is we as an organisation would like to see happen over the next few years.
This cause is particularly important to me as just like many, cancer has impacted on my life and the life of those I love and care about.
It is extremely important to me to push this important cause and to take action on helping alter the course of many individuals' lives and ultimately save more lives.
About Me.
My name is Kai Jolley, I work for a local Charity called MOWLL (Moving On With Life & Learning), I also volunteer as a Campaigns Ambassador for Cancer Research UK to help raise cancer awareness and help those who have been and/or will be dealing with cancer in their lives.
The opportunity to learn and perform Stand-Up Comedy has been something I always seemed to shy away from in my 12 years of performing professionally. I always said that I could never do Stand-Up...
It was too intimidating, too exposing, too much pressure.
I didn't and still don't know if I have what it takes to be able to work a room in a Stand-Up fashion, but for a good cause, I am willing to give it a shot!
Please help me spread the joy and laughter! I will be performing in Liverpool at the Ultra Comedy Night... in a city full of people who love to laugh!
Why?
Someone very dear to me is undergoing treatment for non-small cell lung cancer. We have been having a very difficult time managing and coping with such a frightening diagnoses. We do our best to make sure we enjoy life to it's fullest and give ourselves the time and space we need to help manage the situation. It's heart breaking seeing him going through so much pain and illness, and I know he is only one out of so many going through this difficult time.
Right now, cancer patients are facing record-long waits for vital diagnosis and treatment. In January 2023's waiting times statistics show that performance against the 62-day target reached a record low, with only 54.4% of people starting treatment for cancer within 62-days of an urgent referral against a target of 85%.
This means that around 7,000 people who started treatment in January waited longer than 62-days to start cancer treatment. With growing numbers of people expected to be diagnosed with cancer in the years ahead, the challenge of improving cancer outcomes is only set to grow.
Modelling by Cancer Research UK estimates that cancer cases will rise by about a third, from around 384,000 diagnosed per year now, to 506,000 in 2038-2040. Action is needed to build cancer services that can meet demand and deliver the world leading outcomes patients deserve.
Your support will help fund world-class cancer research and long-term project with huge potential to improve and save more lives. Thank you for bringing hope to everyone affected by cancer.
