Kaleb the Brave and Rainbows Hospice

On the 10/09/2017 Kaleb was extubated and all expectation from the ICU medical team was that he would die imminently. He chose to keep breathing and fight on! On the 11/09/17, a year ago today, we walked through the doors of Rainbows Hospice for end of life care. Grieved by our situation, Rainbows became our sunshine in the storm. We were met with deep kindness, encouragement, generosity, comfort, reassurance, friendship and above all else HOPE!  They held Kaleb through some of his closest moments to death and kept us central to everything they did. They did all that they could to make life easier for us - extending such compassion to us in our time of need - a gift to us that will remain forever in our hearts. They were and and continue to be our Sanctuary of Hope. 

Kaleb went on to survive and although he has had numerous hospital admissions and has significant complex needs, he is Our Kaleb The Brave!  We visit and have respite with Rainbows regularly and are forever thankful for their love and support to us as a whole family. They have provided us with a home of Hope, a place where we can bear all in our new and uncertain journey. Nothing is beyond them, nothing is too much and you are never too broken for them. They are simply wonderful and we would not be here now if it wasn’t for them. Rainbows is our gift from God! 

Phil and I are abseiling down Derby Cathedral on the 13/10/18 @ 3pm to fundraise as much as we can for this incredible charity! 

I have witnessed so many families benefit from this incredible and life-changing service, every family deserves the chance to encounter this when their child’s world takes a turn down an uncertain path.
