UNICEF works to build a better world for every child, every day. A world where every child has the chance to fulfil their potential and grow up healthy and safe. We work in 190 countries and territories around the world, reaching more children than any other humanitarian organisation.

Story

Hello! So i'm hoping to raise money for our Unicef programmes
in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Malawi and Mauritania where the Kantar partnership I personally work on supports more than 80,000 children to help protect them from violence, exploitation, disease and abuse.

  • In Bangladesh, almost one million children aged between 10 –14 are forced to work to support their families.
  • In Malawi, poverty and HIV drive vulnerability in children. They often live in extremely difficult circumstances, including taking care of sick parents/guardians, or coping with grief.
  • In Bolivia, violence against children and adolescents is a phenomenon of considerable magnitude. Across 83% of all homes, there are a reported 2.2 million young victims.
  • In Mauritania, pneumonia and diarrhea are the two leading killers of children under five. Together, they result in the loss of two million young lives each year.

How your fundraising helps:

  • Your fundraising for Bangladesh aims to provide shelter and support to 4,500 children, living in hazardous conditions, enabling them to go to school instead of work.
  • Your fundraising for the children of Malawi ensures 3,500 children have access to psychosocial support through Children’s Corners community centres.
  • Your fundraising for the children of Bolivia, helps to protect them against exploitation by improving their legislative rights and creating special support units for victims.
  • Your fundraising for the children of Mauritania will support a vaccination programme which contributes to UNICEF’s goal to end preventable childhood deaths by 2025.

The Trek to Machu Picchu is graded as Tough and
will include:

  • Trekking an average of 6-8 hours per day. It’s a 3,000 step climb following the traditional Inca path.
  • Trekking at high altitude.
  • The maximum altitude reached is 4600 metres above sea level
  • Trekking through remote areas where facilities are basic and for those of you who know me well, know that this bullet point will be particularly challenging!

So dig deep and please help me raise funds to help Unicef reach every child in danger. Let me know if you have any questions!
