Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Dear all,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This October, I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp in the breathtaking Himalayas. Training has been gruelling but very satisfying knowing that my efforts will be for a worthwhile cause.

I was introduced to Aspire by a close friend a few years ago after suffering a frozen shoulder. The swimming pool in particular helped in my rehabilitation. My ailment seems insignificant compared with other users of the centre.

Aspire works across the UK offering practical support to the 50,000 people living with spinal cord injuries, helping them to lead fulfilling independent lives at home with their families. The charity receives no statutory funding and relies on donations to be able to provide its Services.

The Aspire Leisure Centre in Stanmore was the first of its kind in Europe, to fully integrate both the disabled and non-disabled community

At my age health, friendship and wealth are my priorities in that order. Early morning walks with family and friends in the Great English Countryside have helped to further remind me of those priorities, as well as keep up with my training program.

Even the smallest donations will have a great impact on improving the treatment and lives of members with spinal injuries. When you make a donation, you will instantly receive an email confirming your contribution. We wholeheartedly appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

The cost of the trip is fully self-funded by the trekking group. All 100% of your contributions will be used for charitable purpose.
