Trek Machu Picchu · 10 June 2016

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

I am undertaking this challenge as a part of the University of Plymouth RAG team, aiming to raise a massive £2990 so I can trek across the Peruvian Andes and through jungle trails to Machu Picchu - all in aid of Dementia UK, a charity very close to my heart.

I will be doing this in memory of my Nan - Violet, who recently passed away after a long battle with the disease.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated!

Dementia is a progressive and incurable disease
currently affecting 850,000 people in the UK, this figure is estimated to increase to over 1 million by 2025.

Dementia UK offers compassionate and expert care through Admiral Nurses and Admiral Nursing DIRECT Helpline. The Admiral Nurses are trained specialists who provide much needed practical and emotional support to those living with the condition, their families and their carers - something which isn't offered by any other clinician!

This will be an extreme physical and mental challenge for an incredibly worthwhile cause! Everyone will know someone affected by this life-changing disease, so please donate as much as you can!
