I am running the Great North Run this year to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation which is based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. This charity was set up by Sir Bobby Robson during his battle against cancer which sadly he lost in 2009.

The charity focuses on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.

Cancer affects everyone in some way or another, whether it be yourself or someone you know who is battling against this horrible disease, someone who has overcome it or someone you know who has died as a result of it.

This is a charity that is very close to my heart and so my aim is to raise as much money as possible.

Now most people who know me will know that I am not a runner, athlete or even sportsminded. Infact the only running Ive been known to do is to the car when its raining!!! After numerous months of various training injuries including various torn ligaments etc I will do whatever I can to raise as much as possible. Any donation to this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated and motivational in my challenge.

If you see me running along the Felling bypass with a face like a beetroot wearing a baseball cap to try and disguise it then please take pity on me and make a donation to this page.

Quarter of a million people across the UK will be diagnosed with cancer this year. More than half of them will die within five years. Cancer doesnt discriminate. Nobody is immune. Experts estimate that pehaps 40% of cancers are preventable if we live a healthy lifestyle. That means that a staggering 60% are not. That is why this charity needs as much funding as possible so that they can continue with their work into their clinical trials of developing anti cancer drugs.
