Story
I am very excited and extremely nervous to be taking part in
my first ever marathon and feel very lucky that I get to run in the London
marathon. Many months ago I entered the poll and could not believe that I
managed to secure my place in the ballot!
I have previously partaken in 5ks, 10ks and a few half
marathons, but to step up to a marathon was a challenge I wanted to set myself,
as it was out of my comfort zone and I’m always ready to try something new!
I have increased my training over the last few months and
have been very fortunate to be supported by my friends who run with me, who
make sure I have turned up and put the miles in whatever the weather…even when
I don’t feel like it!
I feel privileged to be able to run in support of Oasis HUB.
Since joining Oasis Academy Wintringham, in my pastoral role as transition
mentor, I have worked with many of our families to offer varied support from
food hampers and other imperative services they provide to our local community
and the families we work with. I can’t think of a more meaningful charity as I
have witnessed first hand the help it directly gives and seen how invaluable
that is.
