Royal Parks Half Marathon · 14 October 2018 ·

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

Because 1 in 2 of us born after 1960 in the UK will get it, because too many people are courageously fighting it right now, because we’ve lost too many loved ones to it already, and because we CAN beat it.

At a personal level, three months ago I lost my Uncle Ralph, aged only 60, to cancer. His brave fight to the end, and the loving support of so many friends and family, was incredibly inspiring and heartwarming for us all.

I am not a runner! This is my first ever sponsored event. You probably know that I’d rather be on skis, in a dance studio, behind a microphone or skating on ice! But knowing that I’m raising money for the important work of Cancer Research UK, in loving memory of my uncle, will be a great motivator. And the bonus of it being my first half marathon is that, as long as I make it to the finish line, I’m guaranteed a personal best 😉

Thank you for all your support. I really appreciate it. All donations up to my target of £500 will be matched by WarnerMedia, so whatever you’re able to give will go twice as far!

Thanks, Karen
