Story
My name is Karen Vallantine, I am Matron of Willow Wood Hospice and I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of April 2012. I have just completed treatment which included lumpectomy, chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiotherapy and i am now moving forward.
As part of the healing process I want to make what I have gone through a positive and also I want to give back something to the health care teams, so I have decided I'm going to undertake the 3 peaks challenge, which is climbing Ben Nevis, Scarfel Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours!! I am undertaking this challenge to raise funds for BREAST CANCER CARE and WILLOW WOOD HOSPICE.
When I decided this my daughter Emms told me she is doing the challenge with me and then 6 of my friends, Andy Elly, Dee Buchanan, Jason Hewart, Heidi Mayer, Matt Bushdyhan, Clive Aldred and Jack the dog said they would undertake the challenge as well, not only as a personal challenge for them, but to ensure that I am successful.
We are all in training at the moment and are undertaking the challenge on August 9th 2013 which is also the anniversary of the death of a good friend of ours Deborah Deaville, so we will also be climbing in her memory.
We are hoping to raise many thousands for these worthy causes so please help by donating now through our Just Giving sit and pass the message onto others.
Many thanks
Karen, Emma, Andy, Dee, Jason, Heidi, Matt, Clive and Jack the dog
