Strictly Come Prancing 2019 · 9 November 2019 ·
Hello, we are Karen Elliott and Raymond Grant. Ray is a professional football player with Clyde FC and Karen is the Employability Manager with Clyde FC Community Foundation.
Clyde FC are celebrating 25 years at Broadwood Stadium this season and so when we heard about this amazing event we decided to swap our football boots for dancing shoes!
Karen, 47, recently trained as a Fitsteps Instructor and is all ready to start teaching. She also trained in many types of dance during her youth but predominately in Cecchetti Ballet and moved to London aged 17 to train full time. Due to a back injury her dreams were shattered but this opportunity has given her a fresh outlook and she is excited to get in the training room. Since graduating from Glasgow University as a mature student with a degree in Literary Studies, she has volunteered with the Events team at Bobath Scotland, worked at Greenock Morton and now works with Clyde FC Community Foundation delivering a number of community initiatives including Clyde Utd, mental health football team, Football Memories programme for people with dementia and alzheimer's to literacy visits by local schools. Her passion to helping others has lead her to widen her skill set by becoming a coach with WW - The New Weight Watchers.
Ray, 22, began his career as a youth player for Norwich City before progressing to the first team in 2015. In 2017 he had a short spell on loan with Dagenham & Redbridge. Ray has also played for Scotland U19's. He signed with Clyde FC in February 2018 and was a key player in gaining promotion to SPFL League One during the play-offs last season.
Ray also coaches with the Community Foundation and supports the holiday courses run at Stepps Primary.
Both Ray and Karen are looking forward to this challenge which finishes at the main event on 9th November at the Hilton Glasgow. Please support us by donating here or coming along to watch us on the night
