Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My motto - I can and I will - watch me!

The story so far.......

Over recent years my mental health has really suffered as a result of personal loss.  I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and have been on a bit of a journey to get well.  Open water swimming and fund raising have formed a big part of my recovery.

I was looking round for something I could do to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital and remembered I used to like swimming as a kid.  I started swimming at a local pool (mainly because I run like a flat footed hippo!). I'm a little like the aquatic version of Forrest Gump.

The positivity that fund raising for Alder Hey Children's Hospital has bought to my life is incredible.  I've already completed the following swims:

Wetsuit Swims

  • One mile in Windermere 2016

Almost Naked Swims

  • Lake Windermere 2017
  • English Channel 2017
  • Ice Mile 2019
  • Catalina Channel 2019
  •  Polar Ice Mile 2020
  • Gibraltar Straits 2023
  • North Channel 2023

What next........

I’ve got a plan - people tell me its utter madness and I need YOU - to help me make it happen.

MY TARGET:

Be the first British woman to swim the Oceans Seven whilst raising £100,000 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

I still need to swim, Tsuguru and Cook Straits.

Oceans Seven Swim — Molokai Kaiwi Channel Swim

My first Just Giving pages raised a total of £36,000, then I had a bright idea and decided I wasn't going to stop until I reached £100,000.  This money will support ALDER HEY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL in their innovative approach to medicine and wellbeing.  What they do for children and their families continues to inspire my efforts daily.

I’m not going to lie, each day continues to be a challenge since my husband died tragically in an accident,  but we started this journey together and with the help of friends, family and work I will finish it. 😊

I’ve only got several hundred miles left to swim and  £'s left to raise - its definitely achievable with the fantastic people around me who selflessly give up their time to support me, to bake cakes, to run tuck shops, and stage their own supporting events, including running, which is well out of my comfort zone!

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME TOO?
