Story
Despite the challenges and barriers created by a worldwide pandemic we carry on with our mission of providing a quality education in the Red Bird Valley. The dedication to bringing excellent academic instruction to students for almost a century is as strong in the 100th year as it was in 1921. The face of leadership at Red Bird Christian School now comes mostly from alumni and people whose families have lived in the Red Bird area for generations. With economic opportunities being limited in the area due to the continuing decline of the coal industry, Red Bird School is renewing our commitment to provide vocational/technical education for the 21st Century. Plans are in place to launch offerings in computer networking/cyber security during this first semester, with heavy equipment operation, additive manufacturing, entrepreneurial Appalachian arts, patient care tech and medical administration tech added second semester. Alumni and friends are being called on to help us celebrate our glorious past century and help launch us into the next 100 years through your giving! Every donation helps us whittle down the tuition gap of the $6,000.00 that it costs to educate each of our children. Thank you for joining me as together we continue to deliver an exemplary education to our children and youth!
PARTICIPATE in the Red Bird School Alumni Association (RBSAA) Virtual Homecoming. We will be gathering for first ever virtual homecoming October 9-11, 2020. While the traditional live student concert cannot be offered this year, we are excited to provide a montage of various Red Bird student concerts for you to enjoy; you can participate in an on line auction that will be held throughout the week; and videos will be posted sharing how our awesome teachers and amazing students are meeting the challenge of "being together" even when there are times that we have to be apart. We will also host a live online meeting for our alumni and friends so they can participate in the RBSAA annual meeting from anywhere that they call home, and we will be sharing inspiring stories and messages each day. Visit the Homecoming 2020 website page for the schedule, video and photo links.
