Between the dates of July 31st to October 31st 2023 I will take a 3 month career break to attempt to hike, climb and scramble all of the 214 Wainwright peaks of the Lake District (where I shall take up residency for the duration of the challenge). Made infamous in the hiking and fell walking community, the multimillion bestselling 'Pictorial Guides To The Lakeland Fells' written by Alfred Wainwright throughout the 1950's and 60's details the numerous mountains, fells and hills of the Lake District. This includes 36,000 metres of ascent (7000 metres more than the height of Everest) and approximately 525 Kilometres of hiking. It's gonna hurt but I simply can't wait to get started!!

I will do all of this in support of the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Charity. I choose to do this for 2 reasons ultimately, firstly not only do I already work for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Trust as a Diagnostic Radiographer and have seen the hugely important work that goes into supporting thousands of patients experiencing their Cancer journey but for personal reasons as well. In December 2020 I lost my mother suddenly and my Father passed after a short illness in January 2023 and I received outstanding support from the Trust throughout an extended period of very difficult times for myself and my family's life. So I would like to take this opportunity to give back somewhat to say thank you for the support and to raise funds to support our patients going through the most difficult times in their lives too.

I will dedicate this event to my parents memory and to the many many patients that come through the doors of our Trust every single day.

I have set my donating target as £2140 the equivalent of £10 a Wainwright. So please please do give generously if you are able to. I appreciate these are tough times for so many and I am in an incredibly lucky and privileged position to take a career break such as this to pursue what is a personal dream for me.
