Story
Hi, it's me again...Karla-Jade, my hubbie Roy & I will be taking part in this year's 60 miles in June walk along side our 4 legged fur baby Dexter Thor ❤
As many dog owners may have seen over on Facebook (or elsewhere), Cancer Research UK are doing a 2 miles a day walk throughout June with your dog(s).
That's 60 miles total!!
We jumped at the opportunity because of the people we've lost from cancer & the people in our lives that have thankfully survived it!!
My Nanna sadly passed from colon cancer 19th May 2010 after 2 years of being wrongly diagnosed as simply being constipated! She was booked in for surgery & that's when they found she actually had cancer! She was put into an induced coma & onto a ventilator, a few days later she was woken & taken off the ventilator but sadly she never got better 💔, we left the hospital on the 18th being told she had 6 months max & they were going to give her some form of medication (I can't remember what the Dr said it was now, as I was still trying to come to terms with the first half of the conversation, that she'd only have 6 months) if she responds then good if not they'd have to re induce a coma & see from there, the early hours of the following morning (19th) she passed away from multiple organ failure.
My mum survived fallopian tube cancer in December 2017 after going for a general checkup & the Dr's discovering it.
Fast forward to 5 months ago, another general checkup my mum was experiencing similar problems as my Nanna & was told she could possibly have bowel cancer. Luckily after so many tests they came back clear & she has an incisional hernia brought on by her 2017 surgery to remove the cancerous fallopian tube cells!
Did you know that in the UK 1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their life time?! I know I didn't, but thanks to Cancer Research UK we have these statistics & numerous medications they're creating in the hopes of saving that 1 in 2!! Even if it's just by spreading awareness of different signs/symptoms, doing your part & checking could save your life!
If you do have any symptom, or you do find a lump contact your GP straight away! Don't leave it until it's too late!
Karla-Jade, Roy & Dexter Thor xx
