My wonderful wife donna died in January this year after four years of suffering from breast cancer. Since then I've been a total mess, but one thing that has kept me going has been the support from members of Widowed And Young (WAY). WAY is a charity for those of us unlucky enough to have been widowed before our 51st birthday, and offers a peer-to-peer support network so that we can talk to other people who understand what we're going through.

So, I've decided to join a group of WAY members who are fundraising for the charity by walking 100km… Except that I'm only attempting 50km because that's plenty, thanks! I will be walking along the Thames from Putney to Runnymede on the 11th of September. That should, I hope, give me plenty of time to prepare.
